I understand the idea SSD helps speed disk access, I'm not convinced it has (or should have) a lot to do with wake time ... from a CNET review

17 seconds is terrible compared to the 4 seconds of my MacBook Pro (and mine is 2 years old and has a standard HDD!)

I'll stick with Win7 on my laptop, thanks.

But if I were to get one of those Microsoft touch tablets, I wouldn't be adverse to trying Win8 on that.

This train wreck is going to be sooooo verrrrry enjoyable!
Now, what was that I said a year and a half ago? Oh, yeah:
My initial impression is that Microsoft, in trying to cram everything into Windows 8 in an attempt to be all things to all devices, will end up with an OS that's a jack of all trades and a master of none (which, after all, ought to be Microsoft's company motto)... I simply do not see the world clamoring for the UI of an iPod also-ran now ported to an iPhone wannabe that nobody's buying to be blown up onto a PC display.
From what we've seen so far, Windows 8 strikes us as an unsavory combination of Windows Weight plus Windows Wait.
Not to mention that probably no one on earth knows how much or what kinds of residual legacy spaghetti code roils underneath it all (shudder)... No matter what, if Microsoft's going to ask Windows sufferers to "learn a whole new computer" (and that's exactly how they'll look at it, regardless of how Microsoft pitches it), millions will simply say, "Time to get a Mac to match my iPod, iPhone, and iPad!"

They should have left 8 on touch devices. Then they should have made an update to 7 that would allow people to easily switch back and forth between the UI's. This would give the public a chance to "play" with it. If course, maybe cold turkey is better.
