I used both. I really struggled and spent a lot of time trying to get it to work right. I have it down to 1:3 to 1:4 on both the internal and external meter. It was a battle but tilting it forward was what made the difference. I know that is not the ideal position to have it in but it was what worked for me.
-
Yes, that should pretty much wipe out the entire CB band for everyone within a half mile of you...
-
Well thats what it does and I had people today complaining about the echo. I told them if they didn't stop complaining about it I would turn on the roger beep aswell.
-
I don't know of any such place, but is your goal to sound good over the air? Or just be so distorted that no one will understand you?
Well I suppose you really don't others to talk to you. lol
-
Radio is more fun when people are not angry. Things like running amplifiers with PEP-Carrier ratios higher than 4:1 or wearing them down with beeps or too much echo/reverb are usually counterproductive.
handlebar Thanks this. -
I was listening around the top of the CB band on sideband, and some idjit (on SSB) had his power mike maxed, his roger beep on full volume (probably on his power mike), and his echo turned up to 12.
The only way you knew when he was done talking was from the decaying Beepeepeepeepeepeep... sound when he unkeyed. Probably was wondering why nobody was talking to him. -
I run the echo just that you can hear it and the RB was because I was getting tired of the complaining. And since this radio dead keys 60 watts on full power, your saying that would sound better?
-
Yes, it would. The carrier is left in there for a reason. When you reduce the carrier, you start overmodulating, and then your expensive power gets spread around into places that does you no good. (Like adjacent channels in the form of noise.)
When you have enough carrier so you are not overmodulating, you will have the most "talk power" in the channel where you want it.handlebar Thanks this. -
I fix the problem by not talking to people that won't turn their echo and reverb completely off.
As far as the output on your radio, it is fine. I dead key less then 20 and swing close to 200 and have had people check the next channel over and they could not hear me.
