Ive been just logging it off duty for whatever the period of time is on one sheet.Ive been doing this for 5 years and havent been checked for it i was just wondering if it was the correct way to do it? thank you

Just make sure that each month is seperate, if you are off from the 25th of June till the 3rd of July then log an off duty sheet from the 25th of June to the 30th of June. Then on a different sheet log from the 1st of July to the 3rd of July.

Yes you should fill out off duty logs, although this is not a DOT requirment on local drivers, however most companies lilke you to do it since they can't keep up with what days you did work or didn't.

Did you know that's not a DOT requirment? It's up to the company if they let you combine months of off duty logs on one sheet. Now most companies want you to do it by the month because when they purge the months logs that log will go away, however my system makes a picture of it for that many days and I can let my drivers combine months now!

You can also combine months in one log book, so you might start Nov and have some December logs in that book (however that's harder if you need to research later on for them logs).

DOT only requires you to have the last 7 days worth of logs and todays current. That's it!

Thanks for the help!! I just dont want to have problems if i get checked. I knew about the previous 7 day rule but i usually keep older records in my book to show a little history. just in case they think im using 2 books or something.
