What is the hourly wage out in cali for hauling sand and gravel, and are they union? I get 36.20 per hour here in the Chicago area with union benefits.

HA!! Don't quit that job. End dump drivers around here in St. Louis are looking at $14-18 an hour and have never heard of benefits.

The bad thing is I only work 8 or 9 mos. a year because of the winter and on unemployment the other 3 or 4 mos. That is the reason why the hourly rate is that high in this area.

In Louisiana, most comapny drivers get % pay-22 to 30% of the truck pay. Average $700 - 1300/week gross depending on the work available. Little different Cost of living down south though. And benefits are not heard of down here either!!

One can find a lot of such jobs around the LA county. They should prefer the online job portal and attend the interview. Asking people for jobs here will take some time of yours.

They're getting pretty widespread. I hauled a lot out of their pits in North Carolina. They had gotten into concrete and asphalt paving in Texas, as well, and just expanded that operation into Colorado when they did an asset swap with Lafarge. I actually work for them now.
