hello i am new to this so plz bear with me.
i have a 2006 volvo 670 with volvo d12 engine 710xxx miles egr's and egr cooler disconnected, my boost pressure is 31psi@1900rpm and my fuel 68psi@1900rpm but the truck still lacks the power. the mec says to change all 6 injectors and see but to me thats a big gamble about $3500 and i am not so sure that would fix it. if any one has any ideas please let me know.
thank you
low power....

I'd start with a dyno to get tangible numbers on the performance before dropping $$$ on 6 injectors. Failing injectors will present other symptoms besides retarded performance.
omer Thanks this. -
Is it ultrashift?
-
no it's a 10 speed straight meritor transmission
-
can you tell me what other symptoms i would have if the injectors were failing
thank you -
I'm not real familiar with the volvo engine but some common symptoms of injector failure are:
- Unstable engine speed
- Poor fuel economy
- Runs rough / missing
- Audible engine knock (fuel knock)
- Air in the return fuel
To name just a few. Have you done a cylinder performance test yet? If so what were the percentage numbers? -
Poor fuel mileage.......And a dyno will tell you nothing, no good reason to get a dyno.....
-
no i have not done a cylinder performance test yet
-
and i am not sure if volvo dealer would do one with the egr's being disconnected
-
Has it always been this way? If it has, I would wager that someone cut it back more than than 10 percent
