Same thing happened to me... I mean someone I know..... when I went to court the clerk told me that I should always plea out in NYS because if I chose to pay fine the state gets $ if I plea out the town/county gets said fine.. It is in the towns best interest to reduce your speeding ticket to parking on pavement.
Just got my CDL, then got a speeding ticket in my car. Should I go to court?

Chompi is right. What was you thinken speeding like that and right after you got your CDL.Whether a car or an 18 wheeler, you treat the speed limit and the motoring public with respect. This may be a tough ticket to beat.
-
Yup go get one of the lawyers that fight tickets, they will plead it down to a parking ticket with a fine. No points on your record and its not a moving violation so you dont have to tell the company that you had a speeding ticket. Well worth the $200 for the lawyer and $200 for the ticket to keep your record clean and keep you employed. In the future just slow down.

You hope. This is a serious violation and maybe the lawyer he hires may not want to represent him and feels he should'nt be driving trk.Sounds like you're exp with this sort of thing.

I got a speeding ticket last December, just after the Banning scales. Wrote me for 63 in a 55. I tried to explain to the cop he got the wrong truck, I was a lil over but not that far, I had cruise set lower than that. On the advice of another driver from this site I contacted interstatetrucker.com. They got it thrown out and I got the $290 the ticket cost me back. I think it cost me around $400 for their service. I could have petitioned the court myself and probably gotten the same result but really was just too busy to do it myself. Was worth it to me.
FlorabamaTrigger Thanks this. -
Just after banning scales, what's that?Anyway chances are that officer knew you was'nt speeding and just hates truckers.I got a speeding ticket in Ohio yrs ago before they changed the speed limit to 65 and I was'nt even speedingI won't go into detail what exactly I told that officer.I was'nt going to sign that ticket but he threatened to take my license away if I did'nt.To this day I hate Ohio and glad it's been awhile since I drove thru it.

Yeah they were running a speed trap not far past the scales heading east. They would light up a truck and then send one of the other cars after it. The cop that pulled me over flat out told me he didn't shoot me with the laser "the other guy did". I asked to speak to "the other guy" I saw him pull up but after I was handed the ticket they both pulled off and I wasn't going to chase him down. So, I used the service I mentioned above and it was thrown out and I got the amount for the ticket back also.

I am a cdl driver. I live in Maryland and I got a ticket for using a 2-way radio that the job issued. That's not the problem though. I missed court date. It was in New jersey. What do I do?

Unfortunately for you 15 mph is considered a serious violation and you would be wise to fight to have it reduced.
Scroll down and look at the points assessed for speeding.... Granted, I do believe those points are for the violation occurring while operating a CMV, I still wouldn't want that on my record. They are the same for 15 mph over as they are for texting, not using hands free for phone calls, speeding in construction zones, etc. Having a CDL now holds you to a much higher standard than the general motoring public. The points info is a little past halfway down the page.
