I dont see a problem with 59,i think more older driver outside OTR then younger,
RFENIMORE Thanks this. -
most these companies think they hit the jackpot if they get someone yo stay a year.
why are you asking in the owner operator section?RFENIMORE Thanks this. -
Ive seen many your age and a few older. Review the DOT physical requirements and see where you fall with that.
RFENIMORE Thanks this. -
Thank you to all. Owner operators have seen it all.

As long as you can pass a DOT physical, put up with the hours and find someone willing to hire you - you're good to go. 59 or not.
RFENIMORE Thanks this. -
To some extent, age is just a number and it's against the law to discriminate solely based upon age. The DOT physical must be passed. If you have high blood pressure, diabetes, heart problems, bad hearing or vision (corrected) worse than 20/40, you probably won't pass the physical. Additionally, many companies have their own overlays to the DOT requirements and will test you for strength and agility to make certain that you can handle the physical demands of the the job. OTR drivers are in demand. Demonstrate that you can handle the work and age will not prevent you from landing a good position.
RFENIMORE Thanks this. -
I'm not an Owner-Op but in answer to your question. No. Your not too old. THAT is what may indeed turn out to be your problem.
-
i don't think age is a requirement. there are lots of truckers older then you. and a few of us that aren't that far behind.
RFENIMORE Thanks this. -
Never to old I knew a guy that was 78 and still driving
RFENIMORE Thanks this.
