Well in his defense, would the company give you 2 weeks' notice of their intent to lay you off or otherwise terminate your employment?volvodriver01 Thanks this.

yea, but every person's experience is different that doesn't necessarily mean what one driver experiences you will too.

First of all, the recruiter lied to him flat out in regard to the miles he would get. This is huge as every driver is concerned with the miles they will get. If the recruiter told him what he would really get he probably wouldn't have taken the job. If a company recruiter boldly lies and doesn't deliver on something they promised it's grounds for the driver to leave peacefully and with no animosity on either end. The fact that the company drew first blood (by not providing the promised miles) AND second, by intentionally dispatching him away from his destination so he -couldn't- quit (make no mistake, this is exactly what this company was doing and they -knew- it) it is grounds for him to take WHATEVER steps are necessary to get home at that point, even if it meant threatening to deadhead. I agree with your statement about the rental car. No company is going to provide a rental car for someone after they quit. He also should have provided at least two weeks notice but when a company breaches their contract (yes, it was an "oral" contract), all bets are off. Had this happen to me ONE time with a recruiter for a company. They lied about what my job functions would be and my days off. When I voiced concern I was told their recruiter would never have told me that. I popped out my handy little voice recorder, played back the statement and the driver manager told me I was out of line for breaking the law by recording someone without their permission. When I told him I understand the law perfectly and anyone can record anyone in a public place (we were in the courtyard of a community college) without their permission, he simply asked, "What do you want?" I told him I wanted what was promised. I got it. I don't play games and I don't expect companies to play games, either. One way to get back at lying scum recruiters is to make sure you're in a public place (such as a restaurant or coffee shop or outdoors) and tape every word they say. If/when they renege on the promise you have all the ammunition in the world to make certain they can't hurt your DAC when you split. If they do, you have a pretty much open-and-shut lawsuit for false advertising and misrepresentation.TruckersWife23 Thanks this.
