i just use a stick. pretty easy to put a stick on the pedal and under the seat keeps the idle right at about 750 and the truck wont shut down every 5 minutes if its above 700

I understand you response. I assure you, the truck is operating as the company wants.
If it were any other point in my life, I'd just walk away from the company and call it good. However, I'm working on getting out of this industry and the rock solid hometime is critical for that right now. Being able to make plans over a month in advance and KNOW I'll get the day off is VERY important to me. I also know that this device could get me fired, and I'm willing to take that risk.
Once we have settle on the final design (we are working on a few different prototypes) then we'll file the patent and post videos of it being install/removed and in operation.
And in the meantime, I'll be able to sleep without freezing
I didn't exactly idle a lot before they added their most recent anti-idle device. I typically came in at under 3% each quarter. I just need an hour or so each day to recharge the batteries before I go to sleep. Without this hour, this bunk heater turns off in the wee hours of the morning due to low voltage. I am by no means one of these people who insist on never shutting down the engine.
How others deal with you question is up to them...
I spent the time to figure out how to get around the system, and being a tinkerer by nature, I came up with the idea on how to do it without modifying the truck. It really is quite simple.
That doesn't work anymore. Neither does setting the trailer brakes and leaving the tractor brakes released. Wedging a stick on the foot brake or clutch doesn't work. Keeping the throttle pressed fails too. That's why I dreamt up the device and contacted someone who knows how to get it built.
Thanks, we definitely want to keep it the "impulse buy" price range, especially if we can get it in the trucks stops. At the moment our target is well under $100.
I'm in the same boat

The company I drive for isn't the only one that is adopting these new anti-idle tactics. I'm hoping that this device will help other drivers in my position and make the companies realize that (at least some) drivers will fight back when they go just a bit too far.GoneButNotForgotten Thanks this. -

i think what HORS meant was fuel mileage not holdingthe idle lol.
-
Yeah none of the norms working then dang they need to invest in tripax's or more batteries in the truck. If my low voltage comes on i get up start the truck set the cruise and back to sleep i go but not being able to do that would suck.
-
no i meant holding the idle it works on ours cause they just have the computer set not to idle more then so long at under like 600 cause i turn the cruise on hit the set button and she will idle till she is out of fuel.
-
on some trucks you can pull out a fuse and the QC won't record the Idle.
Obviously it won't let it idle, bt in conjuction with a work around thy won't know you are idling, unless they keep close track of the Fuel Purchases -
The low idle shutdown was to protect the engine, not all engines were so equipped even when idling wasn't so frowned upon.
I always idled up if possible and have had trucks set so they would, but the trucks we had till now mostly wouldn't fast idle without shutting down.
The 2013 is set to idle at will, but the DPF needs a regeneration after a long period of idling, so I try and time it so I idle less. The stop engine protection shuts it down if it gets to idling too long. -
