Going to orientation 12/10/12 in Richmond VA

Will do, leaving in 1 hr to head to Richmond. I think I am finally starting to get excited and nervous.

 

I checked into my motel for the next few days. Let me say takes a lot to be desired. But I am only here for a few days then hopefully off in a truck. The plus side is I am the only female so I get a room to myself. I hope I can sleep tonight alone without my dog (who sleeps with me and hubby everynight). Will let you know more starting tomorrow evening.

 

Well today was good and bad. Paperwork for orientation said the bus was to pick us up at 6:45 at the hotel. I walked into the lobby at 6:35 and was told oh the bus got here at 6:30 and left. Had to call the terminal and get him to come back and get me. So then we wait for 30 minutes and go to class. Do a roll call, fill out some paperwork, and started drug testing. Before, during and after drug testing we went over our applications and filled out paperwork to go get our physical. At around 10:30 we all loaded back into the bus and drove to get our physical. At 12:00 we were all done and got back in the bus back to the terminal where we had lunch waiting. It was the most bland meal I ever ate. Then we all sat there for over 1 hr wondering if they even knew we were there. Finally the lady who took our applications came back and called in some of us to fill in some blanks she noticed on the applications. When she called me in, I asked her if we are supposed to be doing anything. SO finally we took a Hazmat test, went over the test and then we got to come back to the hotel.

The funniest part of all this is that most of us barely talked to each other all day, but when we got back to the hotel I mentioned ordering chinese food and 6 of the guys were like I want to get chinese too. So I placed the order and we all hung out and chatted for like 2 hrs. Now I am relaxing and wondering what a boring day tomorrow will be.

 

Its not the most organized company but everything is moving along. So far who I have met are all nice so that's a plus. I am not judging anything yet just being honest about what has been happening.

 

There was 9 off us in class. 3 experienced drivers, so they will most likely not be going with mentors, 3 from swifts academy and the 3 new (including me) from other schools
