Does Roehl allow it's drivers to use antidepressant medication?

One of the O/O that purchased outside of the company has a dark emerald green metallic flake. Look black until you get close in the sun.

 

I realize this conversation has wandered from the original thread topic, however, may I ask: Are there many true O/O's with Roehl? If a driver has good personal credit and can swing outside financing, isn't that the way to go? Would you experienced drivers stay with Roehl as true O/o's or move on elsewhere?

 

There are several of us that have financed outside the company or have paid off trucks leased originally from the company. I prefer to finance outside of a company. Gives you freedom to go to what ever company you want. Several of us O/O have been with Roehl for many years for various reasons.

 

I've ran into a couple who've bought their truck outside of Roehl.

There are a couple more. I lease. However if I could go through a finance company I would for the freedom. However Id still lease to Roehl. I know this company, I like this company.

We do have pretty cool L/Os and O/Os with this company to. I've talked to quite a few and they are all great people. All of which like Roehl. I mean Roehl has their little quirks but every company does. Very pleased with Roehl.

 

Just do like me and tell em you dont take anything. No history of anything either. Not like the drug test can detect it anyway lol

 

To each their own, but that's not what I'd do myself. In this kind of environment I've found that full disclosure on meds, especially to the doc that's giving the DOT physical, is the safest route.

 

Actually I believe the hair follicle test DOES detect most prescription meds. But besides that point I wouldn't make a habit of falsifying federally required documents by omitting information, so... honesty is the best policy in this business. Keeps everybody safe.

 

What the heck do people have to be so depressed about? You live in the USA where even the poor people are fat. I had a friend of a friend apply at Roehl. He was on some kind of meds for depression and told them about it. They told him to take a hike. He applied at Werner, didn't tell and has been there for a few years. Sometimes honesty is the best policy. Sometimes it is better to play dumb. Sometimes it is better to ask for forgiveness than permission. My buddy worked for CFI. He curbed a tire pulling into a customer where he was dropping the trailer. He was honest and reported the slightly damaged tire. Long story short he ended up losing a safety bonus and having a preventible accident on his record. If he kept his mouth shut and just dropped the trailer he probably would have never heard about it.

 

I understand where you're coming from, but understand that it's a real, physical illness, no different from diabetes, food allergies and such. Not much the person can do about it on their own -- it's diagnosed as "depression" when it's not just being in a temporary funk or down in the dumps.

 

1. I can't tell if you're seriously making an ignorant comment, or intentionally belittling a condition I have suffered with off and on in my life, whether it be from hormones after giving birth, or the death of my father. Either way, thanks for bothering to type out your thoughtful summary of why you feel Americans should never suffer from depression.

2. Many common meds for depression are a-okay for trucking, even with Rhoel. I would suspect that either your friend was on something not approved, or had such bad depression that his doctor wouldn't give him a recommendation.
