Hello, I heard that the mileage on that truck was really bad....is this true? Does anyone have experience with this kind of truck? The truck has 650,000 miles on it and the transmission is Eaton. The truck has 450 HP. Please help me as I am looking into buying this vehicle. Thanks in advance.

Have no idea. Used to be you could count on just about anything turning a million before it needed something major. Anymore I see all kinds of newer trucks in TruckPaper with 500, 600, or 700K miles and a fresh overhaul.. ...didn't see that so much with used trucks (from years ago in Truckpaper) the last of the good electronic engines from the late 90's to 2003... You will definitely want to know what maintinence has been performed on that DPF check the dealer and Cummins for any records on that. If there are none of it being pulled and cleaned at least once, or maybe twice in those 650K then it'll surely need it... If it's bad and can't be burned/cleaned out they sure think a lot of the new ones, very expensive, several thousand $$$$ right there...

I have a 07 8600 with a ISX 350hp, I get about 8MPG, I only haul about 35k (including the trailer) and I got a hill or two on my drives. The again I dont have the DPF crap to deal with also.

I am diving an '09 Prostar with a Cummins and 13 speed Eaton. I have been mostly pampering it and driving 57-62 mph. After 17 fuel ups, I am averaging 7.68 mpg (figured using fuelgauges.com, not the truck dash display). I wish I wouldn't have gotten this truck though. It has a few electrical issues that have been hard to diagnose and repair. The a/c and heater blower blows and cuts off on its own and then blows a fuse. The door panel lights (window up/down and door lock/unlock) flicker back and forth between the driver and passenger side. The ceiling also leaks into the overhead cb compartment. I think it is condensation because it doesn't always happen when it rains Google search electrical problems and ceiling leaks on this truck before you decide to buy.

Take it to a shop and have them pull the lifetime fuel mileage average from the ECM. Then you'll know for sure if your buying a truck that gets poor mileage.
