I am working with a company that has a process of converting diesel truck to Compressed Natural Gas. Is this viable? Are there other competitors? How is it received? Are there tax incentives? Appreciate comments.

    Thanks,
    Ann

yea there probably are tax breaks but waste $20k to convert a semi and only get back $5k from taxes i think the only one winning with this green propaganda crap is the governement. but hey dont stop the US from using a WIPEY to clean the crap theyve laid out over past decades.

Yes Ann, viable with heavy mods. I know of tax breaks on new equipment but not sure on retro projects. Almost be better to buy a new one ready to go.

General reception is fair to good, great PR project too. Fuel is an issue and range is limited for several reasons.

Not viable if your only goal is to beat the fuel pump price. But if you need corporate PR or you're a muni with buses, pick ups and cars , different story. Also need mechanic cross trained in system or dealer and downtime will eat you up plus on site fueling infrastructure. Big capital outlay coming in.......

This from my experience at a mid sized outfit whom bought 10 new converts for placement on a dedicated gig. One of the majors, England I think has a group of these running a turn into Vegas......

    Good luck

Couple of manufacturers offer CNg engines from the factory. The price of fuel is the biggest draw, then the green (warm fuzzy feelings) . But the gubberment will put road use tax on CNg one day and prices will close .
Oh welcome to the party !
