we have three customers up that that are drop in hook. two are good for having empties, the third is a toss up.. usually we all leave the port around the same time.. while the guys who don't cross go Pembroke, we go to the customer and either drop n' hook or do a 2.5hr unload. then we have to beat feet across Ontario to get to Pembroke. Depending on where we're coming from it could take 2.5hrs or it could take 6hrs. Getting caught crossing through Toronto at the wrong traffic is horrible.

so if you ask dispatch where we're at, it really means nothing.. it's more like what we're doing and if we've sent the empty call yet.. if no empty call has been sent then we're either stuck in traffic or waiting on an empty so we can go get stuck in traffic.. I usually do my repowers at night. so if a small black guy knocks on your door at 1am don't be mad, just trying to get loads off as many guys as possible while i have the time.

Hello everyone I have not posted on this thread, but have been reading alot. I have called HQ and mailed my App for IRT. Hopefully will hear something by Wed. or Thur. I have sent App to three other company's, two have called me and one has set up orientation. This summer I hualed bulk cement for a wind project, crossed the boarder everyday not a big deal as long as all your paper work is in order. I got the bug for hauling tanker and enjoy it. Is there any opening in the NE, it is were I'm from and I don't mind the traffic.

Well first of all, you don't want to move to Florida. I'm moving out, tons of people leave everyday, and many more will be leaving soon. Florida is a place where people go to retire and die. The only people there who have any money at all are those who came there with money. The rest are lucky if they can make ends meet.

As for hometime, you can go home as often as every 3 weeks if you want, or you can stay out longer. Your choice.

    shriner75 Thanks this.

Thanks for the info and advice. Reason we would move to Florida would be cause My wife's grandma and aunt live there (I do as well) to be closer to her close family. But the home every three weeks is not for me. Been there and done that and no family home time. Right now Im home every weekend and make a good chunk of change. Good luck to ya and thanks again for the advice.

I got a question for you drivers. There is a food grade tanker outfit here in my neck of the wood that I am interested in. My question is... with doing food grade tank loads do you all experience much wait times to be loaded or unloaded like you would if pulling a box and going to warehouses?

    Much appreciated.

Yes and no depends on what they haul milk isnt so bad but if the dariy is backed up it takes a lil while some food grade stuff takes a while to unload just depends on what ya got and how the place is, at irt my experience was it was always quicker loading then unloading

I have been in and out of a dairy within an hour, but other times it has been hours. I sat at one dairy in KY for over 33 hours trying to get unloaded. Some dairies are very efficient in unloading, others are just pure lazy and then once the silos are full there is not much anyone can do, but wait.

    TDriver4Life and act6629 Thank this.
