It doesn't mean anything is wrong, just letting you know that the exhaust system temp is high from doing a regen.
-
Mine will come on if it is in a burn cycle and the speed of the truck falls below something like 20 mph. The fan also comes on. It burns so hot it is only a warning. You can probably smell the distinct odor it emits when it is doing so.

Even at 15k ? Dealer said around 250k itll have to do a regen? I dont have to do anything when hest light comes on correct?
-
Your DPF will be cooking (regen) several times a day, even if the truck is brand new. He is referring to the service where you have to have the center filter of the DPF removed and taken to a shop to have it cleaned. That may be at roughly 250,000 or so.
Do not need to do anything when the HEST light comes on. I think the idea behind it was not to park the truck over anything that could ignite, perhaps dry leaves, causing a fire. I think the DPF burns at 1600 degrees, but I could be mistaken. -
The system does regens all the time ... at 250K you will pull the DPF filter and have it baked and flow tested to extend the life of the filter ... cost is around $400

Wheres that filter located?
-
Ur dealer told u wrong.. these regens happen threw out the day. Slower u run more u need a regen I'm doing one every 2-3 days lol

What about parked regen?

If u leave switch on u shouldn't have to worry about parked regen..
