Sooo.... called on a load that TQL has from Cali to Ontario. Set it all up with a rate confirmation and the whole nine. Had about a 550 mile DH to get there, and about 200 miles in2 it, still no contact info other than location. Kept calling and calling, and kept getting the run around. After a 400 mile DH I was told by agent that the customer was a "pre-pay" and had yet to release the funds. Was unsure when they would be able to move it. The next morning the agent informed us that the rate went from $6850 to $5200. Knowing we had already driven 400 miles, the agent was kind enough to inform me that a rate confirmation is not a legal binding contract on the load, and there would be no compensation. Well, Merry Christmas Steve, I'll let my kids know that we won't be going to see Grandma for Christmas!!

Not a binding contract?
-
Nope, apparently a rate confirmation doesn't mean anything except that should they find someone to move it for cheaper then you are stuck!
-
You did have a signed rate confirmation correct?
-
Yes, our company was faxed a signed rate confirmation with all info except contact #'s and a pick up #

I'd start working up the feed chain. Maybe even call on their bond. Just tell them AFTER you do.

Well, I scrambled to get out of Cali, and ended up taking a load for WAY less. I had never had an issue w/ TQL but had read of others who had the same experience. I just want every1 to know what happened. And should you NEED to call them for a load, keep this story in mind.....
-
I bet if the tables were turned they would be jumping up and down about the load not being picked up. I DO NOT deal with them at all. Hate that happened to ya

UPDATE** According to our dispatcher, TQL has an opt out paragraph on the bottom of the contract stating that should TQL cancel the load, no compensation would be provided.
BEFORE YOU TAKE A LOAD FROM THIS BROKER PLEASE HAVE YOUR DISPATCHER CHECK ALLLLL THE FINE PRINT.
This was our bad, driving the miles before checking. Live and learn, AND WONT DO THAT AGAIN!!BretStep Thanks this. -
There is no reason to need to call TQL on a load from Cali. With the way they jerk people around, don't even bother unless the pickup is literally across the street from where you are currently parked. The problem is they rarely get a taste of their own medicine, say when a truck cancels a load at 4:30 on a Friday afternoon.
BretStep Thanks this.
