Nope E logs don't make the driver. E logs make the driver get with the program.
For instance one day back years ago I was at home. I had a load to Atlanta. I was living in Houston. I didn't feel like going when I should have. So I was like Oh I'll just run all night. Like I do when I get a load out of Greeley, Co and deliver in Houston and only stop to fuel and or make my log book look right.
Well I left but around Gulfport, MS fatigue started setting in. Somewhere between Mobile and Montgomery, Al I had to pull over and get a power nap because I couldn't keep my eyes open. I ended up being late for the load because I might of took a little longer on my power nap and I forgot they were on EST. Think I still was able to deliver it, but super truckers don't like being late. So to this day 13 years later. I remember that load. If I would of been on E logs. I would of left early enough. Got the proper amount of sleep, and would of been on time.

seriously, you and i have two different work ethics
it was elogs that MADE you get with the program that all of us have known all along
i run from GA to MA, i have two days to do it, i leave in enough time, hang out in ruther glen, then leave for the rest of the trip, rested
i know if i dont do that, i will be driving tired all night and i dont like that feeling of slapping myself and opening windows and all of that stuff
i dont need a computer for me to "get with the program", i am a grown man with responsibilities, as are you
you just need a box to tell you what to do, i do not7-UP, snowblind and volvodriver01 Thank this. -
Anyway time to get some shut eye I got work to do in the morning. Oh did I mention all the stops were do tmrw, and I got 2 of them off 2day. Apointment for the last stop is for 1700 tomorrow but I'll be at their door about 7am with a pittyful look asking them to take off the 4 pallets of Premium West Coast Beef that only the makers of my company makesNite nite. Oh and I'll have a new 70 hehehe

lol... Elogs... i hated running them especially in my line of work. Only way i could make them work for me was if i made it right to my drop off so i could unload the next day and not start my 14. Also sucks when your 45mins from the yard and only have 30 mins left to drive. Thats when i used the off duty driving option

to the OP, you stated you work under oil field HOS. While I am not positive how it works with a crane, I THINK, and I may be wrong, Any time waiting at the well can be logged off duty and does NOT count against your 14. But you may not drive more than 11 hours. Once you have hit 14 on duty , you need a 10 hr break before driving again. Also, when we do oilfield, we have an Oilfield log book we use which actually has 5 lines for your graph. The fifth line being for 'off duty well site'. I hope that helps some....

that was not my intent at all
let me splain myself
many many times, you hear guys speak about how when they drive slower, they make more money
that may be true in some cases, but it becomes a case of not only diminished returns but overall boredom
so i was merely telling dino that he spent all that time driving (2hrs) to make $18, so if that was worth it to him, i said God bless you
it was never a comparison of monies, i dont know dino, i dont know what his living situation is like, he seems happy with his 40cpm, and i am happy for himDinomite Thanks this.
