I drive 494 going past Newport and always see 4 to 6 Roehl tractors parked. I assume this is where the switch yard is. Do they have enough drivers based out of this area or are they in desperate need of more drivers. I have been by it at least 5 times in the last several weeks and always is 4 to 6 trucks parked. Reason I'm asking is might be easy keep busy out of this area. Or, might be hard to get home??? I am looking at Roehl and would like some local info. Thanks

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Drove by this morning and only 2 trucks left....must be moving some freight now. How about the lady who drives for Roehl out of this area, what are your thoughts?

I can't remember what they said about that yard. I was going to go with them when I was looking ito a company but since I didn't move to MN, I went with another Co.
Roehl has a yard there SE of St. Paul. Forgot the term for it, I think its a drop yard or something like that. Basically I was thinking of working out of the St. Cloud area, but I think they wanted me to drop the truck off there at that yard, and then go home. They do hire within a certain radius of that drop yard. -
There are 2 people from Minnesota in my class at RDTC. I think one is going to be on the 7/7, leaving his truck at the Newport yard, slipseating.
-
Yeah that was another sucky part...the slipseating...not a big fan of that. I like how Schneider assigns you a truck, and....well its assigned to YOU and YOU only. Heck, even the trainers at the OC's use their own trucks for training, demos...etc. I think they do leave the option of slip seating out there if it is absolutely necessary, but for the most part, it doesnt happen. I only drive my truck about 8 hours a day average, plus I have two days off a week...and it still stays with me.
-
Unless you drive 7/7, 7/4 or 7/3, you won't be slipseating. Regular Roehl drivers are assigned their own truck, and don't have to share it with anyone else.
-
I didn't share mine with anyone. Parked it in my drive way while at home.
