Both are comprable with good resale. I'm a little partial to the 379. The only w9 I drove was a day cab doing dirt work and I remembered it had no cubby holes for storage. All my stuff was on the floor or dash. The exhaust stacks are in the way also, when backing up. ( the 379)

How much time will you be spent driving in the fields getting loaded. I have always heard that KW are a more durable truck than Petes. I don't know about the W900 but in alberta pretty much every oilfield truck is a T800. You will see some Western Stars as well.

will you want a day cab or sleeper?
-
Thnx for info ya i will spend quite a bit of time on field roads an dirt roads
-
then go with studio sleeper KW
-
i own both a w900l w//sleeper and a day cab 379. i think my pete is a great dirt truck and gets around better off road, but the kw is a much more comfortable ride on highway, treat them like you own them and they do what they do, treat it like you stole it, well what do you expect.

I currently work for Dynacraft - a PACCAR company. PACCAR builds Kenworth and Petes. Dynacraft builds OEM for both. I can honestly say that Dynacraft provides quality in every way imaginable for the truck plants. And both trucks are growing market share in the current market environment. I believe that says something as to value offered in the vehicles. Albeit, the new Pete with the radical front end has experienced a couple problems of late and production has slowed to accomodate resolve. Production rates are expected to resume after the holidays.
Each truck is custom made from an individual order, so equipment combinations can vary greatly. Current turn-around from order to receipt is three to four weeks.
Used equipment maintains residual values relative well. I recently took a five day trip in a T660 and was impressed with its performance. It had the Cummins 430 (I think) and averaged 7.1 mpg governed at 68 mph through the midwest and southeast with an average load of 39,500 lb (including four passes through Eagle Mountain/Rocky Top).
Good luck with your purchase. -
i appreciate it guys i have my eyes on a 98 w900 right now so we will see what happens

Both are nice, You can't go wrong with either one, I prefer the 379, but have driven a few w900ls and they were great too, and the studio sleeper is awesome.. It really comes down to which one YOU like best, and are the most comfortable in, but I think you will be satisfied with either one..
d o g Thanks this.
