I called a couple compines and they dont hire in my area either. They said because its not a home base and would never be able to get me home because drivers are not allowed to take their trucks home. Only option would be to move but thats not going to happen. <br>
Not living in an hiring area.

I live in Jacksonville FL and as a new student about to attend CDL school, it has me concerned. I own my house here outright and have a wife that works, no kids.
We always talked about moving to the mountains somewhere, but that itself would be hectic having to sell/rent out my house here...ect ect. -
Try Arnold. Located right off Florida Mining Blvd

There are several companies around Jacksonville or Northeast Florida that will hire students. Some don't specifically state they will hire students, but they do on a case by case basis. Put in online applications to them all.

Florida Rock & Tank
Bekins

A while back someone posted they got a UPS (United Parcel Service Store) box number for the same reason and the trucking company told him to just use the physical address of the store and not the box number. Maybe someone on here can clarify this. An example mentioned was Texas won't accept Box numbers, only physical addresses.

I'm almost positive Publix does not hire student drivers.
And bekins....ehhh... Drive one day, unload and reload for the next few days. -
I considered household goods at one time, and talked to several drivers & they all said they make good money & like what they do.
He wants to move to the mountains; some beautiful areas out there with truck terminals nearby, such as Colorado. -
Thanks for the reply, also....
I prefer a company with the least amount of hands on the load. I have a herniated disk which will only give me problems if i lift stuff over 70 lbs for extended periods. Otherwise i am fine. Just prefer to not have to touch the load unless I have to in small amounts.
Any insight?

These days Publix only hires drivers who have worked in their warehouse first ... sometimes for years.
