Like others said, it's your money do what you want with it. That's kind of a given tho.
But I personally think getting a bigger house with higher taxes, higher utilities, more cleaning, more landscape etc. is just not worth it if you're not going to be there most of the time. Your friends have the right idea and I think are giving some good advice. I just dont see the point in such an upgrade. I can't see the point of having a huge house if you live alone. Unless you do a lot of entertaining, you are going to rent some rooms or you have family stay with you all the time, why would you need something bigger than a 2 bedroom?
I can understand wanting the nicer car though. At least when you do come home you can enjoy that. I'm like that with motorcycles, at least when I get the financial freedom to do the same.
My suggestion would be to do everything to your current house to make it more confortable for you and to boost it's resale value. For me, I would install a jacuzzi tub, heated tiles in the bathroom, larger closets, maybe raise the ceiling, put on a deck, ultimate mancave etc. Just make what you have absolutely perfect for you. Keep your property taxes relatively the same and reinvest the extra income. If you want to go big, instead of getting a bigger house, screw it, go buy some property overseas. Heck, buy a #### island. But a historic landmark property for the character and story. Cookie cutter McMansions, in my honest opinion are cheesedick. I don't see the attraction. Good luck with everything.NewNashGuy Thanks this. -
Yeah that was my first idea but sadly the company I drive for doesn't have a hiring area out to really exotic cities like Vegas, Miami, or California. I asked and fm said I wouldn't be able to go home if I lived in those places.

Oh yeah I always value everyone's input but in theend I make my own decisions. But you are right, I will never forget 14 years ago I had a cheap webhost and asked him about upgrading to a larger host package for my site on a shared server and he said that my site would never get that large and I should just leave it the way it is. A few months later my site was so huge that I needed two dedicated servers! He was shocked lol.

Yeah a lot of people out there talk the talk and tell a lot of bs so I understand. Fake it til you make it.
Yeah I am getting some good ideas from the helpful replies though. I am glad that I asked. So most truckers just live a normal middle class life when home?
Good ideas and I have already upgraded my house to a point where I like it. There isn't enough space to expand the closets or add a jacuzzi, which means maybe I should just get a slightly larger house for $50,000 more then instead of the really big one. -

umm.. if you want a more expensive house and car to come home too.. then do so. why are you asking for opinions? do you need your peers to want what you have or what? just do it if you want it. the end.
I plan on buying land, digging a hole in the ground and then living in it; you don't see me asking for opinions. why do you care?? -
Well if I had lots of money and was a trucker and single.. I wouldn't own a house or nice car.. I would however stay in a very upscale hotel and rent a really nice vehicle once in a while ..
When we go to trucking as a team we plan on stopping in Dallas and hopping a plane down to Playa del Carmen MX once or twice a year.. now thats livin ...
