So Sorry for your family. I pulled a 39 ft dump and there is no way it can go in gear going down the road in my professional opinion. I had to be out of adjustment and stay ingear as it is hooke to the side of the transmission. Mine had 2 controls and a lite to show it was engaged. Passin Thru

This has happened many times and if the driver forgot to disengage the pto and the lever is in position to raise the dump body it will go up as he drives,I have had this happen years ago and a friend of mine almost was elocuted when the body raised up and hit a 3000 volt line and yanked the line down,it torched the body on the top corner ,one of my friends went and grabbed the wire and it was still alive,he jumped in the air about 6 ft and his wife pulled the wire out of his hand with her pocketbook, quick thinking, she saved his life, had a hole burnt into his palm but survived in the hospital for a week, then okay.Levers are supposed to go back to nuetral by themselves, some don't.I am very sorry for your loss.
