I start orientation on 1-3-13 in Shippensburg PA with U.S. Xpress

I fall right in here, A lot to consider for a team operation, your partners attitude, and his or her stress ability to cope with it. personal hygiene, can you sleep while they are driving,, in town, mountains, high winds, ice and or snow. I have been doing this since 1971, and there are darn few I would team with, my wife, a student from Oklahoma that I trained a couple years ago. 7k miles a week sounds great till you realize your going to be driving for less per mile than if your running solo. I retired as an Owner Operator in 2009, came back out in late 2010. This stuff gets under your skin after awhile, Remember, you and your partner are each others irresponsibility, it takes 100% trust, without that, stay solo. the shaking and rolling of the bunk beneath you prevents you from entering "REM" sleep - where your mind gets the rest it needs, as well as your body. the result is you're mentally exhausted - you make bad choices and do squirrely things... google this: "rem sleep deprivation" then ask yourself if you trust your life to someone (driving while you sleep) who is sleep-deprived.

maybe (MAYBE) you get used to it. but at first there is no doubt that until you do, you are driving while your mental abilities are greatly diminished.
