on a side note next time you drop a turbo change it over to a single manifold with a single turbo....the kit cost half as much as both turbos and runs better

Hey guys I have a 07 freightliner columbia with c15 acert nxs its has 472000 miles on it, It has been perfect till I went to start it up today Morning. It had a tough time cranking over, when it started it idle real rough and there was black smoke coming out the exhaust like there was no tomorrow, and there are black flakes of some kind coming out the exhuast. I'm in jersey city, nj and there is a shop about a mile away from me should I drive it there or have it towed. What do you guys think is wrong with it turbos, injectors, etc..?
-
could be a few things...air filters plugged bad injector bad ecm and the list goes on...i personal would fire it up...if it did not knock i would drive it to the shop if it knocks tow it you could have a snapped injector tip than you could burn the piston or smash the broken tip between the piston and head
SimD Thanks this. -
Thank you, I had a spare air filter so changed it, it does have a little knock and the engine shakes like crazy, how much will the shop charge for injector, should I get a cat injector or aftermarket?
-
another trick for dipstick is too use a punch and make a couple of dimples in tube .it helps hold the stick in better but harder to pull out

Okay thx I will go with factory cat injector, any special instructions the tech should do while replacing the injector. I want the job done right the first time. So are there any special trim codes or something the tech should put in the ecm after replacing the injector?

after my first post on c-15 acert turbos I have done exhaustive resarch into a fix for the 07' 08' c-15's turbo problems and have concluded that there is no fix as long as the dpf system is operational. the problem is that the heat generated from the regen process creates condensation in the turbo housing due to the close proximity of the dpf which causes constant turbo failure. only a dpf delete kit will solve the problm !!!!!!!
