Those tangs on the clutch brake commonly shear off from depressing the clutch to the brake while the truck is still rolling.

Ok got it, in gear truck not moving = neutral condition so no damage to clutch brake, sweet!

this may just be my problem... I had my truck looked at last week and was told no charge it is right.. but don't think they checked the brake for the tangs being broken off...the truck is hard to get in gear when completely stopped some time but will slide right in when rolling...most of the time I don't even use the clutch myself, unless I have to... but it makes a little noise from time to time when its completely stopped. the sound is like something rubbing.. I will get under the truck and check the brake and see if it spins or just slide on the shaft...I just had this 2pc brake installed about 2/3 mths ago... got 1 from fleetpride the guy said he don't use that kind and replaced it with what he like..
bender Thanks this. -
Yep the tangs on my clutch brake are gone, but now that I have fixed the free play adjuster I should be able to install a new clutch brake and adjust free play correctly so I don't smash the new clutch brake. Thanks for the help/info

Try to get a two piece Babcock for a replacement if you can. The aluminum ones are too cheezy and don't holdup very well.
