MCP200 Internet Access?

    I was told that you could plug a cat5 cable into the "black box" and access the internet through the built in cell connection. My source said you needed to unplug the main power for 20 minutes then plug it back in to make it work. Since the unit has a battery back up I assume this time frame is for that battery to run down and force a hard reboot of the system. perhaps at that time it would detect something plugged into the port and activate the dhcp service? Thus doesn't make sense to me as this system runs Windows and I've never seen it do this. I could be wrong, but I hesitate to unplug my unit to test and find out it messes it up. Anyt one know if this is possible and if so what the process is?

    lt should automatically connect to an Open Wifi Access Point also.
    Unless the Adress Bar is unlocked on yours it would be worthless.
    Actually the Browser Sux anyway.

    No. I want access through the lan port, which I will hook my own wireless router to and provide internet to all my devices. I'll just be using it's cell connection, not its interface.

    Don't think that will work.

    I also doubt that it will mess the unit up. You're just forcing a reboot and plugging a cable in.

    So, try it and report back.

    Look at buying a PEPWAVE surf on the go device for about $100. It offers what you want, and a lot more, including it's own WAP so your other wireless devices won't need a separate router. It handles my wireless printer, my phone, GPS navigation (for traffic and weather), etc.

    It will use external wifi (like at a truck stop), but I mainly use my mobile broadband with it by plugging in my USB modem into it. http://www.pepwave.com/products/surf-on-the-go/

    Can someone tell me what I need to do to allow internet access over wifi for drivers using Qualcomm's MCP200. How would drivers access wifi with there MCP200 unit? Does something needs to be done by administrator? If so, what would they need to do?

    I very seriously imagine Qualcomm (or Qualcomm's cellular provider) monitors for, and probably restricts, video and music streaming packets at the very least. Geez, people will go to great lengths and suffer with dismal throughout to leverage somebody elses bandwidth (however limited it may be)
