A driver pulling a dry bulk load, with a OTR tanker company I worked for got a $15,000.00 fine for the same thing, in Pennsylvania. Trying to get around a traffic backup on the interstate, he whipped out the road atlas and took an alternate route. A trooper was sitting at a bridge, in hiding, and having a field day writing overweight tickets to truckers trying to get around the construction. There was no way to turn around anyway even if you saw the bridge. Turn on the CB when traffic is backing up, just long enough to check what is happening, at least. The driver had to pay the fine, not the trucking company.

first off, not having a cb on is reckless in itself
but why is it a mistake, a SIMPLE mistake can cost a driver $17,000 (it will most likely be reduced), but nevertheless
these municipalities make up these punitive damages only to rake in money, look at the pawtucket bridge, they have stopped construction on the bridge because truck drivers cannot read
how many times have any of us turned down a street, by mistake? and you get to an intersection where you cannot turn around or anything else and there is this sign that says no trucks, or weight limit 5 ton or 10 ton or whatever number?
a $17,000 fine is more criminal than the mistakeperufb and volvodriver01 Thank this. -
