Here are 5 that sometimes hire felons:
Once you're in CDL school; apply online for these companies.
Western Express
Paschall Truck Lines
Sharkey
Carolina Cargo (team operation)
Navajo (case by case) -
Nope,
not that recent !!! -
Hey man, I wish I had a company name to give you, but just wanted to say (we all hear it....annoying sometimes), but don't give up. I have felonies on my record almost 7 years old, and have had every door I knocked on slammed in my face...but you keep going. Good luck brother.
Respectfully,
Ryan
Oh!P.S...if you do happen to find a company that hires felons, please let me know. I've already got my class A's. Thanks -
Hey Chinatown...I know this post wasnn't meant for me, but sure might help me. I'm going to look these guys up. I already have the class A's, so hopefully that'll help. Thank for caring enough to point Rollin in the right direction.
Respect.Chinatown Thanks this. -
How about 7 years March of 2013?....not so much as a speeding ticket since march of 06.

the companies that do take felons probably wont take you fresh out of the pokey. your best bet is a local mom n pop outfits or one of those crooked 1099 paying companies (if you had the CDL already) that chew through drivers like a stack of pancakes.

When i had employees, I was told If i hire a felon i get huge tax breaks, not sure if it is true or not but is a good incentive

First, congrats on striving for a life on the straight and narrow. Not every felon is untrustworthy or evil. Many are more decent than the average guy who just hasn't gotten caught for his illegal deeds.
I'd aim for the construction trades. I know a guy who had a felony drug charge but was a hard worker and had good people skills. His trade was painting, but nobody wanted to hire him. So, he bought a van and slept in the van and started his own painting business from that van. He seriously cut into his competition's (the judgemental guys too good to hire him) market and did very well for himself.
Construction is slow but I'm sure you could find enough work to feed yourself at least. This is better than letting a business use your record as an excuse to pay you less.
