all right first off if this is the wrong place, i'm sorry but not sure where to ask this..

My question is they can't all be new right? what i mean is a lot of companies on the forum just get trashed by folks. Companies like Swift, CREngland, Werner, FFE, Transam, etc. I could go on. What i'm wondering, if these and other companies are so terrible, why do you see so many of their trucks on the road? I understand that some of the CDL mills push hundreds of folks out a week. But, the volume of new folks coming out wouldn't be enough to keep that many trucks on the road.

Are the other drivers that work for those companies just slackers, i mean willing to live on $30k a year and just be happy with that? I'd like to hear ya'lls thoughts @ it. Don't hold back lol, as drivers i'd be shocked if no one had an opinion.

You partially answered your own question; .28 a mile avg. 1700 miles a week.
Those companies you mention, also have drivers that have been with them for many years & are doing quite well financially; they had the patience to stick with it. Many people complain about being unemployed & blame politicians, greedy CEO's, etc., then when a company hires them, they complain about their job, forgetting they didn't even have a job before.
A friend of mine worked for TransAm for 2 years and loved the company & to this day says if he ever goes back OTR, it will be to TransAm. The only reason he left was because his wife pressured him to get a local job.
New drivers should work with these "starter companies", as a first step in a new career and not sabatoge their own future. And lastly, stay away from the lease programs for a few years.

I agree, the one guy I dealt with most while with Werner had 10 years and he liked them, I hated Crete, but I know guys that have been with them for years. They like them. I think these opinions are just that, opinions, you are going to have good and bad. I only worked for Werner for a month, but that month was ok for me. I know a lot of people hate Andrus, so far, they have kept me rolling and I have a weekly paycheck coming in, there are a lot of long time drivers with them, so what can be so bad? I think it is all simply points of view. You will get a great deal of replies I am sure.

Take into account that people are motovated to write more when they are angry or bitter. And when content, not so much.... And also keep in mind that very many on these forums are new, still kind of new and hoping to be...... And therefore, might not learned the game and what works for them.... case in point Snowshoe is happy at Andrus, it seems to be a good fit that did not happen the first time around. Now go find something positive about Andrus.... prolly have difficult time finding good remarks amongst the bad. But yet the is a content driver at that job....... :mooh:

New drivers; fulfill your obligation you agreed to with the "starter companies", then move on. Don't complain after you move on, if you haven't researched your next company. While you're learning with your first company, this is a good time to be planning your next move; otherwise you just job hop with that "deer in the headlights" look on your face.

well, these companies you mention hire tons of people, many as their first trucking job. many find out they cant handle the life. many have poor work ethics. and then many have legitimate problems with a dispatcher/fm, or equipment, or...... those having a bad experience are much more likely to have a reason to find a forum to spout off about it. human nature- you remember the bad stuff much more clearly than the good.
that certainly doesnt explain it all away...the fact that england, for instance, has bad reviews in excess of 30 for each decent review, should give anyone consideing them as an employer some serious pause. but every large carrier will have some disgruntled employees. im sure you heard some trash talk about ffe while at their terminals. i know i heard bad stuff about usa truck at theirs, and i never had a problem with them worth mentioning.

Westway,Roadrunner.... with westway i put reason for leaving was my inability to find Vaseline in 55 gallon drums... And went to Roadrunner, and found that 55 gallons was not big enough.
