I'm not sure what is going on but things are sure changing for the worse! A couple of drivers came into the yard in Salem for maintenance and were told that their trucks were being sold off. Their replacement? A truck not even half the size (interior cab space) to run all 48 states! PLUS: There were 3 drivers waiting on trucks (Lease purchase) in the motel for a week because they have no equipment available! Who in the world is running this outfit? It sounds to me they are booking too much help and not enough trucks! What a pitiful way to treat people!

But how many miles are you getting? And are the replacement trucks new?

I hear stuff bad about that company everyday out here, I was just wondering if there is any new solo drivers that went to work for them this year (I'd like to hear from you) & it's true on what I am hearing or it's just old drivers getting fed up, that has been there awhile.

Well their website says they trade the trucks in every 36 months and the trailers every 48 months so the average tractor is 18 months and trailer 24 months. So maybe someone screwed up and got rid of trucks before the new ones showed up. Or they where told the new ones where on the way, and they were not ,who knows.

As far as the inside of the trucks go, the only ones I have seen are the frtshkr century's which I believe have a 70" bunk and their trucks seem to be well maintained and even have APU's on them.

Heck I drove team 48 states in a cab-over with a 42" coffin bunk for KLLM so don't know what the beef is about concerning a smaller cab?

.41 cents for regional work ain't bad either. .

Thanks for the reply Mr. Big Blue, So when did you start working for them? I don't think you get the 41cpm till after you have worked there for a year. I haven't seen anyone with a start pay that high as a new company driver.

I don't work for them but I did say their website says .41 for Southwest, Midwest, East coast regional with 1 year experience at a prior carrier. System drivers get .36-.37 with one year because they probably do less p&d.

I never worked for this company and they could all be jerks in the office for all I know, but I know what a well maintained and outfitted truck looks like when I see it parked next to me at the Petro at Wheeler ridge, on several occasions. And a scale between .36 and .41 depending on the fleet with 1 year experience is above average.

My dad works for them on a dedicated route. I know a couple guys I keep in touch with who run OTR (not regional). They are averaging 3200 miles a week running coast to coast. This is solo.

They are also getting a lot of new Freightliners and a couple new International ProStars (for trial trucks). All their trucks have Carrier APU's and all trailers have Carrier reefer units on them. I think they run Great Danes, but not sure.

My dad asked his dispatcher how the economy was affecting them. Now think, my dad already works for them, he doesn't need to be sold on them. The dispatcher told him if they are giving you the loads and you aren't running 3000 miles a week, they are getting rid of you. Like I said, a couple guys I know are averaging 3200 a week since the first of the year when their dedicated routes were cut and they went OTR.

I worked for them for 1 1/2 years on a dedicated account also (same one dad works on). If I hadn't moved to Tennessee, I would still work there. They were real nice, most of the dispatchers were former drivers (and still drove on the weekends). The maintenance on the trucks and trailers were good.

Remember too, this post was started in September of 2007. They have got rid of most of the small sleeper trucks (except dedicated).

Here's one example of how they are doing: During the last week of January the factory was closed my dad hauls for, so he went OTR (but really closer to regional) with Henderson. I am with Heartland. I left about 0600 on Sunday and got home Friday evening sometime. I got 1650 miles. Dad left Sunday late afternoon and got home late Thursday night, early Friday morning. He got 2700 miles. No joke.

I'm calling them tomorrow to see about a job. Heartland is about to drive me straight into the poor house. If you are OTR with Henderson you start at .38 (regional does start at .41) but you have to stay out 2 weeks. I'm regional with Heartland (.41 a mile), supposed to be home weekends, but its closer to home every two weeks with about 1600 miles a week...

    Gitty Thanks this.

They sound like a good company to work for. I see their trucks all the time here in the north west. Maybe some other drivers can chime in and let us know how things are currently.
