Dragging starter would be the first place I looked also. Looking at other possibilities, how long was the truck sitting and what weight oil are you using?

Clean all the corrosion from the cables and batteries, reconnect and see if that solves the problem. Corrosion can get inside of cables over time. If that doesn't work then check to see if you have a loose cable that needs to be tightened.

check voltage drop at the starter when cranking.

Delco Remy site used to have trouble shooting docs you could download. Ain't checked lately though.

The obvious is always over looked.... I take it you cleaned the battery end of the cables and they are tight, but what about the other end ?
When was the last time you cleaned the starter end of the cables .. or how about the grounds ? Do you have a ground from the starter to the frame like I do ?

Be prepared to replace the starter cause the solenoid came apart when I tried to remove the big nut to clean those ends.
In any case everyone always think battery end and forgets that there is two ends to that cable.
