I don't know how your terminal wants you to handle it. I use a form I made on my computer and turn it in weekly. I list all the loads with loading and unloading times. I also summarize any other hourly pay or layover and tag it with the travel order number.

It helps to mark Mechanical Issue on the Qualcomm, too. Then there's both a time and a geographical record; it's also honest and accurate. At my last job, in dry van, I spent loads of time getting trailers fixed. So much time, in fact, that I dreaded drop and hooks because I never knew what I was going to get. Superior keeps its trailers in good enough shape that my biggest worry now at a drop and hook is that the trailer might not have been dropped with standard hoses. It's funny that now that I get paid for fixing trailers, I have very few to fix. I used to put at least one a week in the shop for this or that, and spend at least a couple of hours each week inflating tires and re-wiring/replacing lights. Not to mention sweeping trailers. Now I can mostly grab and go, which I certainly appreciate on e-logs.

Yep, I did mark it on the qualcomm "mechanical issues" so it got logged and time recorded. Unfortunately these trailers we pull for the dedicated are not owned by Superior. Otherwise there would not be so many issues. It's like you said, you never know what you are going to get when you arrive. Part of the problem is other companies pull these trailers as well so they may not be writing things up like they should or doing proper pre-trips.

Good news is I am pulling a Superior trailer right now. Found no issues with it and it actually had all the right hoses on it when I picked it up! Deliver in Baldwin GA at 7am tomorrow.

Where you been hiding by the way?!

Just saw this after I had already delivered. For the company and my protection, I prefer not to give out the names of our customers out in the open forum.

Last week was fun. Did a dedicated load back at the beginning of the week then got a system load going out of Atlanta to the middle of nowhere Ohio. Left out Thursday morning around 10:45 with that load for a 13:30-15:30 delivery time on Friday. It was pouring down rain on the way out of Atlanta. Got caught in three wrecks. It took me literally 4 hours to get to the Tennessee line. Had a little bit of smooth sailing until I hit the 40-50 mph winds in Kentucky and Ohio. I was trying to get to our Cincinnati to park for the night. Was going to run I-75 straight through to the top side.

Got to the I-75/71 split and heard on the cb there was a wreck and had the freeway shut down there so I jumped on I-275 and took it on around to the terminal. Got parked for the night. I was frazzled needless to say.

Got up Friday morning and headed out at 10am. I figured that would give me enough time to go 130 miles and be there by 13:30. Wrong...I followed the directions on the travel order and it took my up U.S. 68 to Kenton Ohio near my delivery. Could that road have been anymore messed up with ice and snow??? Add to that 50 mph wind gusts, head on car collisions, jacked knife tractor trailers and you had one fun ride..haha yeah right!

It took me 6 hours to get to my delivery in that mess. I arrived a little after 16:00. By then it was really cold and wet out and I had a pump off load of all things. Took me 2.5 hours to get it unloaded. By then it was dark and there was no way I was going to try and start heading back even though I still had 5 hours driving time left. The customer said I could park there for the night and head out in the morning so that's what I did. It was suggested I take Hwy 309 back to the interstate because it was not as curvy and hilly as U.S. 68 so that is what I did. What a difference that was. It took me 30 minutes to get back to I-75. I jumped on and boogied back to Georgia. I left Ohio at 8:30 Saturday morning, was blessed with clears roads and clear skies. Made it back to the Winder terminal at 21:00 and at the house by 21:30.

I have three days off which I am relaxing and not doing a darn thing!

    Merry Christmas everyone :)

I'm not hiding. You're just not looking in the right places, I guess. To be honest, I've been a little surprised how busy it's been these last couple of weeks.

Yeah things have been busier than what I was told we would be around this time. I am thankful for that. They have been keeping me busy for sure. I hope I get a load going to Florida or Texas, or somewhere warmer this time! Going to check in shortly and see what they have for me.

Hey rubberduck been awhile since I checked in here. Hope everything is going good for you down in Winder. I've been running pretty hard up here, at least one or twice a week to Canada among other loads. Had system load week of Thanksgiving down in Conyers...needless to say traffic plus the week of Thanksgiving made it for a LONG trip back to WV. What is your tractor number?? Just wanting to wave or give you holler on the CB. Hope you had a good Christmas and that you are blessed in the coming year. Stay safe out there.

Kind of a slow week this past week. Had Mon/Tues off for Christmas. Had a great time at home. Called in Wednesday and they had a load going out early early Thursday morning for a Friday delivery just south of Charlotte. Got loaded and to the customer. They guy at the plant says he is not sure if they can hold all the product because the tank has a bad level sensor and has no idea how much is in there.

I make a call to my office and tell them the situation. They said go ahead and start unloading and if I can't get it all off see if I can leave and come back and deliver the rest the next day. Guy at the plant says he won't be able to hold it all if I come back the next day so I called the office again. What I could not get off, which was not much at all before the guys tank was full, I wound up dropping the trailer there at the customer and I guess someone from Charlotte will pick it up when it is empty.

Took a 10 hour break then went to our Charlotte terminal and grabbed an empty tanker and headed back to Winder and called it a day. Called the office when I got back and they did not have anything for me until at least the 2nd of Jan. Told me to call them on Monday to see if they had anything local. I kind of hope they do or next weeks check may be another stinker. We shall see...

See you all next year! .......
