Well tomorrow is the day that i give my notice to my boss that I'll be leaving the company February 29th, and going to get my cdl starting march 3rd. This is one of the biggest and hardest decision the wife and I have had to make.
Its hard leaving a company were you have a bright future with and extremely respected (not to sound like I beating my drum). However being paid on commission only sucks I love selling tires to trucking companies, and if that's all I had to do I would probably stay but I'm considered a sales/service man witch means I sell the tires load my own truck and change most of the tires I sell. It has gotten to the point that my body can not take it any more. I'm sick of going home every night and sitting down and not wanting to get back up because I ack so bad.
So this is were trucking comes in I drive a 26ft van body and just love driving it. I only put on about 800 mile a week but I love it. I always have had a fatuation with Semi's and always want to learn how to drive one so with the complete support for my wife we have decided to give it a try.
We will be putting our house up for sale the beginning of January and moving a Little town called Bruce Crossing MI were my in laws live they have to houses that are paid off. And said we could live in one that we would inherit it some day anyhow so that would be a big help financially. The wife and I can't wait seeing that we are originally for there. Well I'll shut up now. Wish me luck tomorrow is going to be a sad nervous yet exciting day.![]()

Why are you giving them 10 weeks notice? You might not have a job in a couple of weeks.
-
CAZ,
I would give your company a two week notice that you are leaving. As I am in sales and I know if I gave my company a notice that I was leaving they would want me out within two weeks and would be bringing in a replacement to be trained. -
I'm giving them a 10 week notice because not to sound like a hot shot here but its going to talk about 3 or 4 weeks to find some body to replace me and another 4 or 5 weeks to train them on my route the place I'm leaving has always treated me really good so I want to make sure they get the right guy and from what I've been told they would have to pay me if they let me go before my time is up -
I wish you GOOD LUCK in your future plans!
-
Yeah I was wondering the same thing too.
What ever you do DO NOT go with the likes of Swift, JB Hunt, CR England etc.
Good luck. -
