I planned to come off of hometime on the 27th...dispatcher called me on the 26th and offered to send me to flemington nj, then repower a load going to Spokane Washington that had to be there at noon on the 31st. A 2500 mile trip from Jersey to Spokane in 3 days? Yeah, not happening.

it all really would have depend'd on when you pick'd the load up off the yard. If you would have pick'd it up on the 26th in the am, you could have had it drop'd in NJ by midnight on the 27th, got your take wash'd and load'd on the 28th, which would have given the the 28th,29th,30th, and half of the 31st to get it there, and if weather on the west coast is anything like in the north east i'm sure you would have leeway to be half a day late.

But that's a "hard charger" method right there. I've come to notice alot of IRT drivers don't really run as hard as they can.

contemplating after my year here is over, getting my "x" endorsment and hauling fuel, or going to bruce oakley, or mercer.. end dump would be cheaper to start up with compared to flatbed, but i think dumping will get old after awhile. not really sure about fuel, i dont mind tanker, but i get tired of being rocked all because someone decided to jump in front of me on a up hill climb only to hit brakes and then speed off leaving me to deal with the upset whale behind me.

either way i gotta get away from the river, there's not enough physical activity in this for me.. and they don't have lease ops either.

Mitch, Pritchett could keep you pretty busy pulling a long dump for them. I don't know if you'd be happy with their rates, but they have few O/OP's and Robert will run you just as strong as his company trucks.

"Hard Charger" method!! WTF?? Is that something new they tought you in your CDL school?and your going to say some drivers don't run as hard as they can? That's a very arogant statment for a rookie truck driver to make!! There's a lot of IRT drivers that have more miles backing up then you have going forward!!! Good ridence to you I hope you leave the river ASAP because they don't need any, as you put it "Hard Chargers" good luck in what ever do, hopefully its not truck driving!!

i talk'd to them a couple of months ago, but i'm too far south for them to hire. they're mostly north of US50 or SR50, which ever it is that run from Brooksville, Fl across the state.

Umm Hmm... ok, well i meant no disrespect, i wasn't point fingers or trying to single anyone out.. And so much for "Hard Charger" i'm not the one who coin'd that term, someone else used it as a comparison to me when i was explaining to someone on here how sometimes dispatch will want a driver to do them a favor.

So much for the CDL school, never been to one, a rookie? not really sure what brought you to that conclusion, and i'm not gonna ask. So much for drivers having more miles backing then i do going forward, it would only be expect'd seeing as how i've only been living for as long as some have been driving.

And yes i will say some drivers will/wont run as much as they can. Some come on the road and take it easy. I've left Florida for NJ with two other drivers before and some how managed to drop, grab an empty, and head to the port for a reload before they even drop'd. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, more power to them, do what you're comfortable with. But in the end, they really could have done more. And i'm not talking about sneaking around in the middle of the night dodging scales. It's just that some drivers really do "take it easy" when they're out here on the road. So me saying that some drivers don't run as hard as others or as hard as they can isn't an arrogant statement at all.

If i'm wrong please explain, I hate the taste of crow but i'll eat it if necessary. Every dog has to lick his wounds.
