My hubby works for Basic Energy and loves it. They originally said 4 on 2 off but he works more like 5 on 1 off 14 hr days. He makes pretty good money for a no exp new cdl driver. He was hired with a group of guys who had a long wait due to elections but then got the ball rolling. He says now they are hiring a lot and after New year he has been told is gonna get really busy.

fungirl, what yard does your husband work out of?

Hello Everyone,
I'm a new trucker who got his start in the oil fields. I know I had a lot of people help me online and out here in the patch. I'm posting videos of my journey on youtube if anyone is interested in following a greenhorn getting started in the oil patch.
Stay safe out there.

I just got hired on as a brand new cdl driver in the north Texas patch and the work is plentiful. My last paycheck was 138 hours (two weeks).
They're hiring, trust me.
I'm chronicling my journey on youtube if your interested in watching a greenhorn get started.

Hey Crewjohn,
Nice job with the video and thanks for the info. I will finish CDL-A School in Austin on 01/25/13 and have an interest in the oil field driving jobs. Keep posting your updates and all the best to you!crewjohn Thanks this. -
He works out of Kenedy. Are you working for them? They seem like great company and he has no complains, although he is not a complaining type(like me haha). He likes the driving and has stated loud and clear he will stick to driving only. In other words if he wants to work up in oilfield he has no desire to do fracing or anything real physical. If he is driving and deliver water what would be a step up? Crude oil? He meets guys who do crude oil and said they make more. Is that true?
Since I sent him to these areas I am kinda putting my foot in mouth, as it is kinda ok. Part of me wishes he went to Midland or even other areas of Texas. I love San Antonio but he felt it was too far and now I am gonna be in Beeville. Oh well. -
Things picking up yet?
I'm putting in apps around Corpus Cristy area and very few replies- -
guys and gals...make sure you have housing lined up before you leap into one of these jobs....yes there is work, but housing?? not so much...i would hate to see y'all leap into something thinkin that you can easily find a place to live....housing is VERY hard to come by down here..and EXPENSIVE as well...do your homework...
