To be honest, a 12V Coleman cooler works just fine. I have been running one for several years now and it gets the job done. I have never had use for a microwave. And if you are going to be home on weekends, then there is no need for one either really. The small bunk will work just fine for say 5 days out. If you get to do your re-sets at home, you won't mind how small the bunk is.

Now if you plan on spending 2 weeks OTR, a small bunk can be a slight hinderence, but I have been running OTR with a 38" sleeper for years also, and upgraded to my 60" and it really didn't make much difference. I've never been one to eat out of the truck tho, don't have time to make the food (heck, i don't even do that at home) I just hit Subway or the restruant and eat sensable. But to each their own, as i understand those who go shopping and buy stuff for sandwhiches and meals. Maybe i should try it once, who knows, maybe I'll be converted???

I run a 48" stand up peterbilt sleeper, it works great for my 5 days out at a pop but if I had to be out two weeks at a time I would sure like to have a 70" with a fridge/freezer and a microwave, a couple friends of mine have pete 70's with that combo and they live completely out of the truck and never stop at truck stops...

    Spent last winter in a 38" for up to 3 weeks at a time now I have a 63" with a fridge/freezer.

Thing that bothered me the most with the small sleeper was getting dressed in the morning.

The advantage to the small sleeper was it kept you really organized.

That is very true, as i now have extra crap in this truck that I didn't have in my other truck. And speaking of that, I'm going to clean it out once it gets out of the shop...... thanks LOL

I don't cook out of the truck either. Don't like to cook and I like to get away from it for awhile when I eat.

I keep some sandwich meat, mayo, and bread in it ocassionally. Sometimes a cold turkey sandwich tastes good and saves some time so I don't have to stop for lunch.

Get a small cooler to hold food for short periods of time...I would even buy dinner on a daily basis...get a small gas grill, and you can cook just about anything you want. What I would usually do is buy a 2-pack of boneless chicken breast and a 5-pack of sausage, maybe a pack of hot dogs. that would last me 3-4 days, depending on if I cooked a lunch. Got a couple pots for heating up vegetables also. Walmart also sells single slice sized skillets--make grilled cheese, eggs, bacon, etc. With as often as I park at Walmarts, I sometimes just bought what I wanted for the night while i was there. :)

SHC, since you're on the topic why don't you post up a pic of that sharp FLD you had. I know you have in the past, but I'd be hard pressed to find it, and as odd as this sounds after 10 years in this industry I'd have to say my favorite truck, get ready for this, is a mid 90's FLD. Crazy, I know.
