So I had a rough start on Monday. I got to the truck around 0500 so I could get the snow off the deck, and make sure I had plenty of extra time for any unforeseen hold ups. Well I still got out late. I started my PTI at 0630 and found a flat drive tire (empty and would not take air), fuel tax paper expired that day, and they had not put me in the system to get on my elogs. So I was supposed to get to my pickup at 0800, but made it around 1000. No problem as it was an open pick up time. I drove the rest of that day and made it to Jackson, TN. I got up early this morning and started again and had a couple issues. My GPS took a ###### (rand 720). I think it was the fact that I was using the wrong power cord. No worries though I bought the same one and then put my almost new one in the box and brought it back (don't judge me) LOL. I made it to Texarcana with 2 min on my drive line left (###### elog) but I found a flying j off I30 so I could shower and use wifi. I will update in a couple days and hopefully I will be home.
My journey with PGT begins today

Oh sorry I was responding to the guy who said it is hard to get out in the AM.
I made it to my drop with a little adventure. I can drive just fine, but when you throw me in the middle of a place like Houston in traffic and I have no idea where I am going it was testing me a bit. The only issue I had is I drove to the address on my qualcom and did not pay attention that the bills had a different address where the load had to go. No problem though it was only 20 miles away, but I had to go straight through the city to avoid tolls. I dropped off around 1500 and it was too late for them to get me a load out so I headed to the flying j off 45 (I believe that's the road). It was a zoo and I am not too confident backing into spots between 2 trucks. I got lucky and found one on the end in a questionable spot (not really a parking spot, but not blocking anything.) I took advantage of the extended break and got a shower and I am gonna get some extra rest. -
Airborne Thanks this.

Thats good cjr, glad to hear your staying safe. When you were with your trainer, did he run one log, or did he run the truck as a team? I hear you on Huston. If you have a smart phone, google maps is perfect for showing you shipper and receiver directions and locations. Theres also alot of good trucking apps out there. So you got your first load off tour deck? Let me know what they dispatch you next.
My orientation date is Jan 14, in Birmingham. Im actually trying to see what else I might "line up" before then. Stay safe friend.MJ1657 Thanks this. -
I have a question maybe someone on here can help out with and it may help any new drivers out there. My company does not take state tax from my check. I have no idea how much to put away or to expect to pay. I know there is a way to lower it by using the per diem option, but what do you guys do in this situation?
