detroit all the way...pre egr you can build them up and run with big dogs any day of the week...if you get the 12.7 i would suggest a port and polish manifolg gateless turbo and tune the ecm...right now i dont have the mainfold on yet but with my 96 and 2000 classics i am gettin 7.5mpg and run 70-75 all the time. and i pull the hills with ease

N14 is one of the best engines ever made. Why don't you like it? I would agree with the others , go with a Detroit over a Volvo any day of the week. Still if it were me I would take the N14 over either of those choices.

I did call Cummins and ask them about the ISX motors. The guy that i talked with said that the 400church was a pretty god motor but the bigger ISX motors have problems.
