Hello, new guy here, but i'm loving the information I can get from this forum. Can someone please tell me what the six pins are on my tach so I can get my tach working. NOT the 8 switches, the 6-pin power plug, I've tried 4 different tachometers, none do anything at all, and I know 3 work as I took them out of working trucks to test. My truck has the tach WITHOUT the hour meter. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you check the tach sensor? Which engine do you have? Should be on the flywheel housing underneath,I think cat might be ran through the ecm but not 100% on that right now, the six pins shoul have two for the speed sensor 1 power 1 ground and two for the light the hour meter should be wired internally just use a test light or volt meter to find the power and grounds and the light wire then ohm out the other two wires from the tach head to the tach sensor

Yes, the sensor is underneath on the flywheel housing, I haven't had time to check that yet, (Due to about a foot of snow on the ground). We're going to replace it whether it needs it or not so hopefully that should solve it, I have lights, power, just no signal. guess i'll have to wait and see. And sorry, it's a 475 Cat 3406E
