Nowadays, if we called in every "professional" driver who did something boneheaded, we'd spend all dang day on the phone!

That said, I've called in three drivers. All three driving like idiots, trying to change lanes while I'm still using the one they want. Oh, and I was in my personal vehicle all three times. I needed to call in a fellow Schneider driver one day, as he tried to move from the far right lane to the far left lane to merge onto I-581 south at Roanoke from 81 south. I happened to be in the far left lane when he started comin' over. If I could have got his truck number, I would have called in him in in a heartbeat. He decided to stay on 81 and come back, I guess, because he didn't exit where I did.

This kind of idiotic act needs to be addressed.

I agree, I know I'm new but I like to drive with the old school way in mind

I find it amusing that most of the drivers that will defend the moron doing idiotic things on the road will be the first to burn him at the stake when he does injure or kill someone doing the same thing again.

I didn't read this entire thread, but here's my situation.

I've called in on a driver doing something stupid once, and that's because his stupidity #### near killed me.

I was in Laredo on Mines Rd heading south of Loop 20 toward Flecha Lane bobtail (going down the road for food). A truck with trailer was in the far left turn lane with his left turn signal on (at the gas station/diesel island, if you know where I'm talking). I was doing just under the speed limit, and this idiot started turning right onto Flecha Lane across three lanes of traffic with me not far behind him. I had to stab my brakes like crazy and almost ate the side of his trailer. He, of course, kept going and I could tell tried to floor it down Flecha Lane (not a smart move, as it's a dead-end street with no real turn around). I turned right and followed him, got the Hows My Driving? # off his trailer and reported him. His safety guy told me he had safety issues in the past many times and he hasn't gotten any wiser.

If I wasn't fully aware, and capable, of stopping, I could've died. And if not me, some family in a minivan could've been arranging a funeral. His stupidity could cost lives because he couldn't go down the road a bit and do the U-turn under the freeway with I-35.

    Thanks for Posting this!
I know just what your talking about, I travel to Laredo maybe twice a week, my terminal is way out on Mines Rd. It's already enough that we have to deal with the Mexican drivers cutting us off driving old Schneider, J.B. Hunt, & KLLM cabovers, it seem like the US drivers want to do the same

i dont think anyone here DEFENDED what he did

a uturn in an interstate median is one of the dumbest moves one can make

the point was that he did it when there was no one around, safely, and no one got hurt, or even close to hurt

the issue here is about CALLING, NOT DEFENDING him or his actions

Yes, I completely agree. I'm not about to stick up for a screw-up that can't even follow basic laws because he/she was in a hurry. It's moronic stuff like that which causes accidents.

And what's the problem with calling a safety department to report a dangerous driver? What if a driver you didn't call in to report did the same thing again and this time killed someone? What if that someone was someone you knew? That's why I call in certain drivers. You cannot say "Oh, if he wasn't in an accident this time it's no big deal". Why? Because it'll be to late for a innocent bystander when that driver does cause an accident.

These same "professionals', who make Uturns on the interstate, are some of the same ones who park next to the NO PARKING signs in truckstops, so they won't have to waddle as far, block the fuel island for an hour, because they decided to do two weeks worth of shopping in the store, back into other trucks and trailers at the truckstop, and then leave without a word, etc. In other words, what they do is right, and screw what the rest of the world thinks.
And I think the employer of these "professionals" needs to know how their driver is representing their company.

Thank you again for this post!

That's a GREAT POINT!! Out of my 26 years out here, I've probably called in on a driver 5 times. I don't make it a habit to call in on every foolish thing I see a driver do. If you are in my immediate area and you do something crazy, I'll holla @ you on the CB, and try to encourage you to be a little more careful before i go to the lengths of calling in, if it's not a serious event

My truck doesn't have a CB, so I can't holla at other drivers. I take that as a blessing in disquise, because they can't holla at me either.

And I'm pretty much the same. I don't go around looking for a reason to report a driver, as after all; we all make mistakes. The ones I report are the idiots who drive erratically as if they stole the truck and/or they think they own the road.
