as a sole proprietor wanting to get my own authority in tx, do i have to carry health or workers comp insurance? it seems clear that if i have employees i would have to, but doesn't say about sole proprietors. thanks in advance

No you do not have to have workers comp. Occ acc wouldn't be a bad idea to carry for yourself though.

You don't have to carry workers comp until you have 5 employees here. It's extraordinarily expensive for a very small fleet. I had a second truck and looked into it but it was cost prohibitive to get traditional workers comp insurance for the two trucks. When I ran the numbers it didn't work out until I had 5 minimum.
