They should have bought V8 engines with Bosch injectors, very reliable.

I can just imagine how much time they would have spent on the side of the road if they had bought new KW with ISX.

funny thing is here in the us truck makers have been offering pre made glider kits. meaning you order a glider kit and the motor you want and it comes complete. not like your normal glider kits where you get a truck with no motor or trans. in the pre made the motors offered are all pre emmissions and pre egr motors. brand new 12.7 detriots new old school cats and cummins. they where selling like hot cakes.

what model Cummins has the same sensitive commonrail system like Scania 6 cylinders? Add to that low quality Cummins block casting full of casting sand that block the oil passages and causes conrod to make windows to block.

Cm 2250 I'm not a huge cummins fan but I would like to think there blocks are alot better than the problems they had in the early days. I will find out exactly what problems they had with the scanias so you can see if there the same issues you have there.

Here only XPI (commonrail) engines had problems. Ceramic pistons of highpressure pump were failing and sending small parts to injectors that broke them. In winter they lost power because of too "thick" fuel, maybe because of very tight filter or very tight railpressure limit in the ECM (shouldn't be a problem in OZ). Also some EGR valve adjustment problems that caused lower power and higher fuel consumption.

Unit injector engines didn't have any of these problems, only SCR malfunctions that derated power but most of them are now deleted.

Makes sence standard common rail fuel issues, Toyota hilux have alot of problems here, every one that buys them now fit extra fuel filters to keep the dirt and water out of the fuel system.

how long before the v8s are pushed into common rail to meet emissions? They must use quite a bit of def at present.
Is everyone useing the emulation boxes. Or is some one deleting in the ECM?

How is your CARB Nazi working? Do you have them at all?
How big of percentage of all big trucks belongs to single O/Os? I guess those are the ones who do deleting?

730 hp version is XPI, there is some problems with them also, but it is DEF engine, no EGR. DEF consumption about 5-6% of used fuel.

There's both boxes and ECM software changes. Advantage of the box is you can switch it on/off when you want.
