    2012 model.

Here's the deal: When truck has been off, say overnite or so, and the OAT is approximately 30 deg F or less, I start the truck, and it idles around 6-700 for a few seconds, and then jumps to 1600 RPM or so! I've been driving cars and/or trucks since '66, and always figured it was best to let the engine and oil warm up a bit before revving so high?

Oil pressure gets as high as 80-90 psi during this high idle phase.

Anyway, do ALL maxxforces behave like this? I ask my mechanics this question, and they just shrug their shoulders.

I have driven four of these trucks and they all do it. It's a normal thing. If you let it go withut knocking the idle down, it will eventually go back down on its own.

Hows this for "they suck"............Mine blew up at 49995 miles. Put a hole in the block and everything. Throttle stuck wide open while it was warming up. Turned off the key and it kept running.................for about 10 more seconds, then BOOM!!!! I am getting it back next week. i know, what the hell am I thinking??????? It's still my truck. I must be getting old, change is just too darn hard.

sounds like you had a failed turbo and it ran off the oil passing thru the turbo

I had the same thing happen the first time I started mine in cold weather, but it only had 10000-11000 miles on it at the time. Happened a couple of times, and then never again (125000 on it now). Looked for signs of damage or smoke stains, nothing. Scared the crap out of me, though!

    Maxxforce's are strange beasts, indeed.

it is normal, it's part of fast warm up stategy in the programing, and it helps reduce aftertreatment problems. you would think they would let it idle a minute or two before reving them up but they are the engineers.
