I believe Poly will be getting my app in a few weeks. Just have to settle our housing situation before I make a move.

I've decided against the local gig for a few reasons. One, night shift. I wouldn't see my wife any more than I do now when you combine the job with the commute involved. Secondly, and being quite up front and honest, I think I'd be bored out of my ever-lovin' mind going back and forth twice a night, night after night after night. I like a little variety.

But most importantly, scheduling. I still like having more than two days off at a stretch. Wife and I will be buying a home in Columbia, SC, and with multiple days off, we can weekend in Charleston, or go see grandkids (I have my third on the way), or whatever, and when we get home, I"ll still have a few days off with which to piddle around the house (translated as doing what wifey needs me to do!).

I don't think she's crazy about it, but concurs with my thinking that given our family situation and the things we want to do more of, this would be the best of it. Now, if Poly will hire me....ay, there's the rub......

Working a local gig on the night shift is not all it's cracked-up to be. Been there done that & 48 your assessment is correct.

I think you will find that running three to four weeks before taking home time(unless you get a load that allows you to pass thru) will generate so much more $$$ than at Crete that you can comfortably take four or five days off without feeling guilty. Thus allowing you to enjoy it more. I wish you the best of luck. But with a good MVR, a low CSA score, & being a current Crete driver you may not need it.

Any of you parked at the Pilot on I-26, exit 115 in Columbia, SC right now? I'm waiting to head to my delivery in about an hour, and a Poly truck is parked just to the back of me.

I'm sittin in LaQuinta Sunday 1/6 , will be GP to meet some poly folks tomorrow. Should I prepare my brain for a brain-picking ?
I believe I'll meet Meghan and someone else , can't remember who. Meg sounded real nice on the phone a few weeks back. As I said a few weeks back I'm trying not to get to excited about this , one never knows.

I can attest to that as well. Up until about a month ago I was local night shift and I didn't see my wife from Monday morning until Saturday morning. Not much different from a regional gig with weekend hometime. And as far as repetition, I do 4 loads per shift running 28 miles one way over the same route. It's the same thing over and over and over again, and it does get old at times.

Just be yourself & be honest. All will go well. Oh, I guess you could study for the pee test tomorrow. :) But seriously, an early welcome aboard.

The same Poly truck that was parked at the Pilot in Cayce, SC yesterday is still here today...wondering if he's waiting for freight....

He's sittin' in his truck. Could just a slow period. 'Tis the season, after all!

Or, like I am so often, he's in the doghouse at home and the truck is his refuge!:biggrin_25523:

Sitting myself for 4 hours here in Dayton, TX with another Poly and a Crete. The longest I have sit by a large margin. Hoping something pops up soon to get me moving.
