From Maryland, will i see more home time with swift or trans am?

if home time is an issue for you, you want to sign on to a company for regional, or at least one that HAS regional drivers (they may require some otr experience first). look for companies that offer this, and see if you can get on as a regional driver right away or find out how much time it would take. dedicated is another good option for those looking for consistent home time. otr is generally out at least 14 days at a time, home 1 day for each 7 days out. regional drivers are generally home each weekend, and maybe run through the house on a load going by there during the week.

 

Bowman is out of the Hagerstown area off I-81: don't know if they hire students though.

 

May want to check out eyes transport . Home weekends. Good pay . New equipment .

Im very disappointed in everybody! Nobody else has said it, so I will. (in my best grumpy old trucker voice) If you are worried about home time, trucking isnt for you!!!! Trucking takes a special kind of person who likes to never see their family & never shower. All these #### new guys havent got a $%^& clue what its really like on the road. How did I do? First off, never limit yourself to just two choices. As others have already said, look for something close to home. Even if you've heard that they don't or won't hire new drivers, go and ask in person. The worst that can happen is you get a "no." As for your question, I know next to nothing about how TransAm works. I do drive for Swift, though. The terminals closest to you, depending on where you are in Maryland, are Martinsburg, WV, Jonestown, PA, and Richmond, VA. Swift has a big operation out of the Costco DC in Monrovia, MD, including a bunch of daycab positions, but I have no idea what the hiring parameters are there. As far as OTR hometime goes, Swift has plenty of freight coming and going in your general area and you shouldn't have a problem getting home when you want (after two or three weeks out, of course).
