A good friend of mine was an officer for our local P.D. and he really got shafted! There is a lot of bull$### politics involved and if you aren't on the right side you're screwed!
So Frustrated! Any advice appreciated.

Mom & Pop or An Owner Operater on a 1099 ...you could get on with as little as 4 -6 months as I did with Conway Truckload....been here for 13 months

Absolutely true. The gig ain't what it's cracked up to be.

Man, I sure wish there were more officers like that out there. -
Lots of good suggestions! Glad I can get on this forum and pool from the knowledge and experience of others. One thing I keep hearing is that insurance companies won't insure me because I've been out over 3 years. Makes no sense to me. What ever happened to common sense in this nation? Do they honestly think I'm going to get behind the wheel and suddenly forget how to drive a truck? Or back one up? I've been repeatedly told ''So much has changed, so you need a full truck driving school.'' What's changed? The truck doesn't go forward when I put it in gear anymore? If they mean regulations or policies then give me a book and I'll read it. I can drive your freakin' truck and read a map! I can back it into a dock when I get there. I can read a manifest. DUH! You would think experience would matter. I could walk up to a truck right now, pre-trip it, get behind the seat, and DRIVE!

I worked with plenty of humble officers who saw helping others as their duty. Things like changing a flat tire for an elderly person or a mother whose car was broken down with kids on board were what made it all worth it. Much more satisfying than writing a stinkin' ticket.
BigByrd47119, goblue and mje Thank this. -
Trog, first thank you for your service! Try Gordon. I've been out of driving fro 10 years and they're giving me the opportunity that you are asking for. Good luck! Bill
Trogdor Thanks this. -
Bill, I was just looking at their web-site and thinking of calling. I'd love to have just one recruiter listen and try to help. And thanks for the appreciation sir. May God richly bless you in all your endeavors.

Just called Gordon. I'm not in their hiring area.

I'm truly sorry to hear that. My prayers are with you. Bill
Trogdor Thanks this.
