I know it's reefer freight and not flatbed but the company i work for is part of the problem. We pull $600 loads 500 miles going back south out of Mass. Honestly speaking anything coming out the North going south doesn't pay nothing...

I can't believe reefers will haul that cheap. I know nothing about that type of hauling but it seems like it would be high dollar since you are taking extra responsibility for the product. But I guess when every Tom, Dick, and dumb### have one it all goes down the crapper.

Iowa is dead to platform freight. Only guys making money from there is TMC, PAPE, and a few others that have JD locked down. I can't ever find a good load, even when I'm IN Davenport or Dubuque. You guys got all that gravy on lockdown

It could be what you think or maybe not.
We haul a lot of high value delicate cargo for the power generation and distribution industries.
The customers want the risk on the manufacturer so the terms of the purchase are often delivered to site.
The manufactures/suppliers often have a set percentage of value they charge for this.
I have seen documents listing freight charges of $ 25 000-00 when as the broker I was getting $ 2000-00 and paying $ 1800-00.

Another good one. This is a broker, Landstar Ligion out of Florida. Has a load out of PA to Ma 400 miles for $650. The bad part is i haul for this shipper all the time and he sends them to a broker when i can not get there. The load pays $1,100. and more when he's in a hurry which he is. Some brokers/agents are realy gouging rates.

Then exercise Plan B>go out and knock on doors and solicit your own freight, collect the receiveable, deal with the no pays etc, etc, etc.
