DOT physical and blood presure questions

Lay off the coffee, sugar and caffinated beverages a couple days before the exam and you should be ok. Don't eat before you go.
If it is slightly high, they will give you a 90 day card so you can get it under control. Yes, you can drive while taking BP meds, as long as they get you below DOT reg level.

Hey-The best thing is go in below 140/80.Then they don't look to have to give you a one year or 90 day card.Cut out salt,sugar,red meat,starch and walk some every day.Get it down on your own.Be as relaxed as you can.It shouldn't be too hard to get it down enough to pass and get the two year card.Take care.Brian

 

That's been my concern as well. I go back to the doctor on Monday. I've been on amlodipine 10mg for two weeks and I hope by Monday that it will be within normal range. I also will find out if I have diabetes on Monday when my blood work results are revealed. If everything is great on Monday, I will schedule my orientation class.

 

I took garlic and it lowered. Try this, go to a place like Wal-Mart or Walgreens and take your blood pressure. Then take the garlic. Walk around awhile and then come back and check it again. It was amazing how quickly it worked. For best results wait an hour and then check it.

 

My problem is that i get Nervous when they are going to check my Blood Pressure. I just can fell my pressure going up. Never had issues, just one year that the Doctor told me if i had High Blood Pressure and told me to sit for a while. That freaked me out and now i believe that i'm going to be high. Came back and it was fine. Always get my two years but what really calms me down is when the doctor starts cheking my pressure, i closed my eyes like im going to sleep and i feel so relaxed and never again had a problem.

 

The 10mg. you take now isn't doing the job, as far as a CDL goes. You need a stronger pill.

 

Regs in michigan allow up to 160/100

Dont know if its the same in all states or not. You should be able to google "state" + DOT + blood pressure and maybe throw in requirments and get a solid answer.

 

also, if you"re on meds for high bp. you'll get a one year card
