If your a owner op running your own authority I see no reason why you can't pull a load home with it. You just have to put the insurance on it and either buy trip permits for it or apportioned plates. I've done it before. Bought a truck in Salt lake and picked it up and grabbed a power only load back to Washington. What ever you do if you hook a trailer to it be sure to put the DOT number on it. Idaho give me buddy a $490 ticket for not having one on his new truck.

The filter will do the job of catching anything that might harm the engine from extra wear. This is why I said change out the filter early if you like. My theory is that the extra soot in the oil at the end of 10-15 thousand miles will aid in the seating process. Everybody has there ideas what works best and if it makes you feel better to change it out early, go for it.

Jimtx77 it sounds like your bringing it home on a dealer temp tag. As long as you have all the correct insurance in place you can buy the permit for each state as you enter them. you will also have to buy fuel permits if you don't get ifta in place before you go. We bought a truck in Michigan a couple years back and brought it back to WA on trip permits. I put full insurance on the truck before leaving to pick it up and had to buy permits for each state and a fuel permit. Didn't make anything on that load but it didn't cost me to get it home either. As for lettering all I do is take masking tape and a sharpie and write the DOT number on it, then get it lettered at home. just have to have the DOT number on it if it pulls anything

    jimtx77 Thanks this.

Rhay Thanks for your input, you are correct about the dealer.
