I got my 7 year MVR a couple of weeks before I started school and it was clean showing no violations. However, I did get a speeding ticket in 2009, however I paid extra money so that points wouldn't be taken from my license and therefore it also didn't show up on my MVR. I've also had a few "not wearing a seat belt" tickets over the years and they have never shown up on my MVR nor taken any points. Since my MVR is clean with no violations should I put on my apps that I have no violations or should I list them anyway? Is the same MVR that I get the same MVR that the companies will get as well?

If I was your prospective employer, several "not wearing a seat belt" violations would be more than enough to cut you in favor of other, more logical candidates.

Wearing a seat belt is the law. You agreed to follow all laws when you signed the CONTRACT for a driver's license.

Please indulge me, or us, with your reasons for refusing to wear a seat belt.

Don't know if it this way where the OP is from BUT we had cops that would give you a seatbelt ticket over a speeding ticket as there were no points for the seatbelt violation.

I had an accident (fail to yield) and an improper passing in michigan both in 1984 and I think they stay on your record for life. I was 16 then. I put them on my application. Those were about 30 years ago. I had no problems and neither did the companies I applied for. I went the honest route, seems that everything I read on here suggests that it is the thing to do or you will end up paying later for not disclosing it.

Most insurance companies don't look back more than 3 - 5 years.

When I get an MVR from my insurance they have already drawn a line through anything more than 3 years old.

Generally 3 years on most moving violations is all most companies look at, and all most states supply unless a longer look back is requested. Hirerite however just notified it's subscribers that effective Feb 22, 2013 their DAC edition MVR's will feature a 7 year depth. They gave no explanation, but I would suspect that their subscribers have indicated there is a market for this.

    Best regards

Be honest and let them decide if they matter or not. Failure to disclose is dishonesty and a reason for termination. Just my 2 cents.
